Prometheus cave

   Kumistavi cave, also known as the cave of Prometheus, is located near the Georgian town of Tskhaltubo, 20 km away from Kutaisi in Imereti region in the West of the country. The cave was discovered in 1984 and was almost immediately developed as a show cave. Kumistavi is the biggest cave in Georgia. Although only one tenth is open for tourists, it takes about an hour to explore it. Inside there are underground lakes and rivers; rather high humidity and a lot of bats, which, however, do not bother tourists, as they fly very high.

Sataplia cave

   Sataplia - is located North- east side. about ten kilometers from Kutaisi.  The cave is museum of natural monuments. There are several phenomenons Sataplia I , Sataplia II , Sataplia III , Sataplia IV.

   Sataplia I is the most visited place. It is famous for dinosaur footprints. Expect natural reserve, here we meet amazing Flora and Fauna 

    Sataplia was discovered by Peter Chabukiani.

Bagrati

  Bagrati Cathedral - built by Bagrat III king of Georgia. The constructions began at the end of the 10th century and was completed in the early years of the 11 century - in 1003.

   Bagrati is the largest Cathedral in  Georgia, with length of 43 meters. with 35 meters. old travellers talked about size and beauty of the Cathedral.

   It was destroyed by the Turks in XVII century. But now - It is fully renovated.

Motsameta Monastery

  Motsameta Monastery - is located couple of kilometres out of Kutaisi above the ravine of the Tskhaltsitela river.  

   The name Motsameta is derived from the Georgian word for martydom. Two brothers, David and Constantine Mkheidze were captured and tortured for refusing to convert to (s) am by arab army of Mervan Glukhy in 735. They were thrown into river. They were buried as martyrs in the crypt of the church. After that. It was called  " Motsameta ". 

    In XI century Bagrat  III built the  church, which was also destoyed.

    In  XIX century the church was constructed again and built houses for monks. 

   on the ather parrk of Tskhaltsitela river, there isfamous Sakajia cave, wherewe can see signs of primitive men.

Gelati

Founded in 1106 in the west of Georgia, the Monastery of Gelati is a masterpiece of the Golden Age of medieval Georgia, a period of political strength and economic growth between the 11th and 13th centuries. It is characterized by the facades of smoothly hewn large blocks, balanced proportions and blind arches for exterior decoration. The Gelati monastery, one of the largest medieval Orthodox monasteries, was also a centre of science and education and the Academy it housed was one of the most important centres of culture in ancient Georgia.
